I removed the wrapping,
Washed it clean,
Prepared myself,
To expose the unseen.

Stem and root sliced off,
Discarded as unfit,
Nor useful or connected,
The recipe did not permit.

Off came the skin,
Peeled back its veneer,
Fragile but protective,
The top layer appeared.

Tears welled up,
A fresh cut revealed,
Memories hidden,
Life had concealed.

Another layer removed,
Closer to the core,
Some will embrace,
What too many ignore.

Such beauty and pure,
The bulb I could see,
Unblemished by growth,
Still guarded from me.

The truth if told,
Of struggle and revival,
Ingredients for battle,
Tales of survival.

Let it recall and let it shine,
Its authentic identity,
Then plant and regrow,
For the future will be,

Fraught with darkness,
Tested by the night,
To emerge stronger once again,
And reach toward the light.
