The Bill of Rights is one of the most important foundations of our country, defining things that no government at any level can ever do, even in pursuit of its legitimate powers. The most important amendment in the Bill of Rights is the first, which says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
